SMALL ENGINE, BIG PUNCH

INTRODUCING THE 2.7L TURBO

High tech, highly capable, low fuel consumption. The all-new 2.7L Turbo 4-cylinder engine is the modern powertrain designed specifically for light duty pickup trucks. Available in the next generation Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom, LT, and Custom Trail Boss and the all-new GMC Sierra 1500 elevation & Pro Graphite Edition.

Key Features

2.7L Chevrolet GMC Engine

This little engine packs a big punch.

• 310 horsepower @ 5,600 RPM
• 420 lb-ft of torque @ 1,500 RPM

This is no ordinary 4-cylinder engine as it is packed with technology like Active Fuel Management, Direct Injection, Auto Start/Stop, Active Thermal Management, and 3-phase Camshaft.

The 2.7L Turbo engine is exclusively paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

GMC Chevrolet 2.7L Efficiency

With technology such as Direct Injection and Cylinder Deactivation, the 2.7L Turbo engine provides better fuel efficiency than the Canyon/Colorado V6.

• 10.8 L/100km Highway
• 12.5 L/100km City
• 11.7 L/100km Combined

The above fuel economy figures are for 4WD equipped Chevrolet Silverado 1500 & GMC Sierra 1500 trucks.

2.7L Chevrolet GMC Performance

With a new 3-phase Camshaft, the 2.7L Turbo 4-cylinder engine can provide excellent fuel economy as well as good performance.

• 0 – 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds

The 2.7L Turbo I4 is a full second faster than the 4.3L V6 and almost a second and a half faster than the old 4.8L Vortec V8.

GMC Chevrolet Towing

A lighter engine means more towing and payload.

• Up to 9,600 lbs towing
• Up to 2,280 lbs payload

More towing and payload capacity than what the average truck buyer needs.

Advanced Technology

The 2.7L Turbo 4-cylinder engine is packed with tried and tested as well as new technology to provide excellent fuel economy and good performance.

Variable Valve Timing
Adjusts the timing of valve lift to improve performance, fuel economy or emissions.

Direct Injection
Fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber for better mixture of the fuel with the air. This improves emissions as well as fuel economy and engine performance.

Active Fuel Management
Initially developed by General Motors for the 5.3L V8, Active Fuel Management (AFM) deactivates half of the cylinders to improve fuel economy under light duty application.

3-Phase Camshaft
Grooves in the Intake camshaft allow for the camshaft to slide depending on engine demand.

• “High Lift” mode for performance.
• “Low Lift” mode for normal driving.
• “AFM” mode for maximum fuel efficiency.
